Identifying Emotions
Self-awareness is the ability to understand yourself, including your thoughts, feelings, actions, values, and beliefs. It also means being able to recognize your strengths and weaknesses, and how others see you.

Much of the film Inside Out takes place in the head of an 11-year-old girl, Riley, with five emotions in its original film - Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust - and with more sophisticated emotions joined in Inside Out 2 - Anxiety, Ennui, Nostalgia, and Embarrassment - embodied by characters who help Riley navigate her world.
Being able to identify our emotions is so important for our well-being. Especially for children, self-awareness and emotional regulation can help them manage their behavior and make better decisions. Moreover, when children can identify and label the emotions of others, they are better able to empathize with them and respond in a supportive and caring manner.
